Now that the football season has officially come to an end, the 2015 Major League Baseball season is on the
horizon. Opening night is just over two months away, with the showdown between the Chicago Cubs and the St Louis Cardnials on April 5th. Most teams will report to camp within the next two and a half weeks, with the earliest being the pitchers and catchers for the Phillies, Pirates, Reds, Indians and the defending World Series Champion San Francisco Giants. All of which will be reporting on February 18th.
Early favorites to win the 2015 Worlds Series are the Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals. The Los Angeles Angels, Detroit Tigers and defending champion Giants are also near the top of the favorite list. The Chicago Cubs, while they probably aren't title contenders this year, are an interesting team to watch. This offseason the've made some huge acquisitions bringing in Joe Maddon, who had many successful seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays, and Jon Lester who has World Series experience with the Red Sox. They also brought in Dexter Fowler, who is a very good top of the order guy, via a trade with the Astros. I think they'll have some succes rather quickly this season, but may still be a year or two away from a title run. I do think they Chicago Cubs will win a World Series within the next 5 years though.
For my way too early World Series prediction as much as I hate to say it (I'm a Braves fan), I have the Washington Nationals beating the Detroit Tigers in 6 games.
